Duong Dong – The heart of the island

Duong Dong town is located on the west coast in the middle of the island, on the banks of the river with the same name. The town lives, moves, smells and makes noise 24 hours a day. Life here never stops, doesn’t matter if it is day or night. There are plenty of ships, motorboats, boats in the harbor which bring freshly caught seafood from the depths of the ocean. All this stuff will be sold in the local market, where you should go early morning to grab some fresh seafood or fish. Otherwise you can get it at the Night Market – one of the most atmospheric places to dine in Duong Dong, which sells a delicious range of local seafood and serves it right there on the spot.

Long Beach – Slowly walk

Long Beach is indeed a long, spectacular stretch of sand from Duong Dong southward along the west coast, almost to the southern end of the island, so there are plenty of places for a romantic walk under the moonlight. There are lots of hotels along the beach as well as restaurants with exotic Vietnamese cuisine, classic European cuisine, Mexican cuisine and others. Just imagine yourself walking slowly along the beach, cool breeze is blowing in from the sea, relaxing music is playing in the nearby beachfront cafe and you will not be able to resist relaxing with a few drinks. The air is filled with the smell of grilled fish and you have no choice but to enjoy this magical moment.

Asian flavors

The Day Market is located in the center of Duong Dong town. It is a very crowded and noisy place where Vietnamese buy, sell, offer something or just spend their free time chatting or walking around without any purpose. It is better if you come here early morning, around 6-7am, when tired fishermen upload their night catch on the stalls, farmers bring newly collected with the morning dew fruits, small shops prepare for opening and housewives rush to sell homemade hot food. Fresh flowers are sold everywhere and you can get any of these goods for a really cheap price. This local market can offer you everything you can imagine, even if you desire something very special and rare.

Sao Beach – Sky reflection

An Ice-cream man called Kidos is walking slowly along the beach accompanied by his inseparable friend – his bicycle. In a very polite way he offers you to taste his delicious ice-cream. Time after time you can see few tourists who arrive, swim in crystal water and continue their trip. That is how you can spend your time here – in peace and seclusion with nature and yourself. If you wish to have a snack or a proper meal – there are a few restaurants on the beach where you can taste some unforgettable gastronomic delights. For those who likes spicy we recommend to try Thai soup and we are sure you will enjoy squid cooked in batter by local recipe. You can easily get to Bai Sao beach – it is just 35-60 minutes by motorbike (depends on the speed). On the way here you will definitely stop several times to enjoy amazing landscapes and the beauty of the local wildlife.
